"ROSSOGOLLA"-THE BENGALI SWEET DISH


In the year 1860, Nobin Chandra Das (Nobin moira) of Baghbazaar in North Kolkata, by profession a confectioner Invented a sweetmeat of the ultimate delicacy and named it as ROSSOGOLLA(small balls of pure cow milk casein boiled in sugar syrup).

ROSSOGOLLA a spongy sweet is regarded as the national sweet in India.

In the year 1930, K. C. Das(Krishna Chandra Das), the one and only son of Nobin Chandra Das, opened a retailing outlet under the name of K. C. Das Confectionary”, and also contributed the Bengali Confectionary by inventing a unique sweetmeat, ROSSOMALAI. He was the 1St and only who canned the ROSSOGOLLA, which had made ROSSOGOLLA, the “Royal sweet of Bengal” famous throughout the whole world.

Later his son Sarada Charan Das(1906-1992) expanded the whole business and reached it to its heights by every possible means and also by globalizing Indian sweets through out the whole world. He also invented some unique sweetmeats, “Amrita kumbha, Cake Sandesh, Ice-cream Sandesh”, etc.
